The Nigerian Air Force is offering opportunities for eligible candidates to join its ranks. For a smooth application process, applicants are to adhere to the general instructions provided. Age Limitations

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by origin or birth. This criterion is the bedrock to the eligibility process, indicating the importance of a strong connection to the nation.

Age Limitations

  • Regular Applicants: Prospective candidates must fall within the age bracket of 20 to 30 years by December 15, 2024. However, medical consultants have a wider range, with an age limit of 25 to 40 years.
  • Exceptions: Candidates born before December 15, 1994, are ineligible, and for medical consultants, those born before December 15, 1984, are not eligible. Furthermore, serving personnel above 30 years (born before December 15, 1994) are not eligible to apply.

Height Requirement

Male applicants must be at least 1.66m tall, while females must not be less than 1.63m tall.

Medical Fitness

Applicants are expected to be medically, physically, and psychologically fit, meeting the rigorous standards set by the Nigerian Air Force. So as to ensure that successful candidates are ready for the challenges of service.

Local Government Area Attestation Form

  • Signatory Requirements: The Attestation Form must be signed by a military officer from the applicant’s state, not below the rank of Wing Commander, or equivalent ranks in the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, or a Police Officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner and above. Alternatively, attestation from L.G.A Chairman/Secretary, Magistrate, or Principals of attended secondary schools is accepted.
  • Document Authentication: The L.G.A Attestation Form must be accompanied by a passport photograph and photocopy of the signee’s Drivers Licence, National ID Card, or International Passport. The signee must also authenticate behind the applicant’s photograph.

Presentation of Original Credentials

Successful applicants must present various original credentials, including two recent passport size photographs, birth certificate, educational/professional certificates, indigeneship certificate, and attestation to good character signed by an officer of appropriate rank.

Impersonation and False Documents

Any applicant suspected of impersonation or submitting false documents faces disqualification. False declarations detected later may result in withdrawal from training, with potential legal consequences. The Nigerian Air Force takes these matters seriously and may involve law enforcement.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Educational Qualifications

Prospective candidates are expected to hold a minimum of a Second Class Lower Division for first-degree holders and Lower Credit for HND holders.

NYSC Discharge Certificate

Candidates must possess certificates of full registration with their respective statutory professional bodies in Nigeria where applicable. This condition is to make sure that applicants have the necessary professional qualifications for their chosen fields.

Discipline-specific Requirements

a. Aircraft Engineering

Applicants in this field must possess HND/BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Airframe and Engine Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering. An MSc would be an added advantage.

b. Armament Technology

Requirements include BSc/HND/BEng in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry (Industrial Chemistry), Physics, Explosive Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering. An MSc would be an added advantage.

c. Air Intelligence

Applicants must have a BSc/HND in disciplines such as Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System, Cartography Photogrammetry, Computer Science, and proficiency in languages like Mandarin and Arabic.

d. Air Traffic Services

Specialists in Air Traffic Control and Meteorology must possess specific qualifications in sciences or hold an Air Traffic Control License.

e. Communication, Information, and Space Technology

BEng/BTech/HND in Radar Engineering, Communications Engineering, Satellite Communication, Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System. Rocketry, Astronomy, Space Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, ICT Engineering, and more. Additionally, proficiency in software development languages is highly valued.

f. Logistics

Qualifications for logistics roles include BSc/HND in Purchasing and Supply/Procurement, Marketing, Business Studies, Economics, Statistics, Data Analytics, and various sciences.

g. Works and Services

Applicants for Works and Services must possess BSc/HND in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geoinformatics, Quantity Surveying, and Land Surveying.

h. Catering Services

Qualifications include BSc/HND in Hotel and Catering Management, Hospitality Management, and Event Management.

i.Administration/Personnel Services

Requirements for Administration/Personnel Services roles include BSc/HND in Public Administration and Statistics.

j. Sports and Physical Education

Qualifications for Sports and Physical Education roles include a BSc in Physical and Health Education.

k. Air Provost

Candidates for Air Provost roles should have a BSc in Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, LLB, BL, BMLS, Veterinary, or BSc in Cyber Security.

l. Education

Education roles require qualifications such as BA(Ed)/BEd/BSc(Ed)/BTech in various disciplines including Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Geography, Building Construction, and more.

m. Chaplaincy, Imam, Music

Qualifications include BA in Theology/Divinity for Chaplaincy, BA in Islamic Studies for Imam, and BA/BEd in Music for Music roles.

n. Legal Services, Public Relations, Medical Doctor/Consultants, Therapeutics/Diagnostics/Medical Support Services, Nurses

Roles such as Legal Services, Public Relations, Medical Doctor/Consultants, and Therapeutics/Diagnostics/Medical Support Services have specific qualifications and professional requirements detailed in the recruitment guidelines.

o. Account and Budget, Museum and Archives

For roles in Account and Budget, candidates should have a BSc in Accounting, Banking and Finance. Museum and Archives roles require a BA in History, Archeology, Anthropology, and Museum Technology.
