COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE ELECTIVE CONGRESS OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS) JOINT CAMPUS COUNCIL ZAMFARA STATE

Preamble

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Council (JCC), Zamfara State Axis, held its annual convention at Zamfara College of Art and Sciences (ZACAS), Gusau, on January 4, 2025. The event aimed to elect new leadership for the next academic session, in line with the NANS Constitution and Charter of Demand. Delegates from various tertiary institutions across the state participated, ensuring a transparent and democratic process.

I. State of the Nation

The Congress acknowledges the Federal Government’s and security agencies’ efforts to address insecurity in Zamfara State. The delegates appreciate the State Government’s prioritization of education through renovation of institutions and provision of educational resources, which have enhanced the academic environment.

II. National Education Loan Fund

The Congress applauds the Federal Government’s establishment of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), aimed at easing the financial burden on students. However, it emphasizes the importance of extending the fund’s accessibility to more institutions in Zamfara State to maximize its impact on students’ academic pursuits.

III. State of the Campuses

The Congress expresses gratitude to ZACAS management for their exceptional support in hosting the Axis Convention. Other tertiary institutions across the axis are commended for their commitment to security, which ensured the peaceful conduct of academic and non-academic activities.

IV. Convention and Election

Delegates from ten accredited institutions across Zamfara State participated in the convention. The election was presided over by Comr. Salisu Ahmad Umar (Aluta Ustaz) as Convention Chairman and Comr. Jawad Abubakar Sadauki as Clerk, ensuring fairness and adherence to the electoral guidelines.
